Motorcycle Glasses Tips
To all motorcyclists out there like me, choosing the right motorcycle glasses is always a trial and error process. I am wearing a prescription glass but not a prescription motorcycle glasses. So, every time when I look at the stores selling that motorcycle eyewear, I feel a kind of envy for having a limitation in choosing for one in order to look cool riding my cruiser motorbike. However, I am sharing these tips based on my more than 20 years personal experience dealing with both riding motorcycle and selecting the right motorcycle sunglasses. Also this article is backed up by my additional knowledge in the science behind those glasses due to by technical background in nature.
Every motorcyclist knows how important a pair of motorcycle glasses is, and we shall never tolerate when times to make such a choice. These are what I do when I pay a visit to any motorcycle eyewear store, arranged in accordance to my highest priority :
First , I will never tolerate this particular one. I will only choose shatter proof lenses for both my prescription glasses and the clip on that fits nice with it. Motorcyclists are the most vulnerable one on the road, either we hit or being hit by someone, we will be affected in any way. Just image if our glasses got shuttered and those glasses are very closed to our eyes !
Second, practically for your note, I never switch glasses, meaning that I am never a fan to prescription motorcycle glasses. So far, I had never found any two sets of prescription glasses that do not make me giddy. Giddiness is a risk when riding or even driving because it interfere our focus and judgement. Therefore, I always politely decline the optometrist suggestion at the motorcycle eyewear store for having multiple glasses, one specifically for motorcycle glasses for riding and one when I am not, eventhough they tried extremely hard. What I do is, I stick to my decision to put a clip on and nothing other.
Third, for the clip on, I will never go to other than polarised clip on and my priority is the one that match the shape of my prescription glasses. There are some that come together as a set, and definitely this is my very first choice. We will look cool with this since the clip on blended well to the base prescription sunglasses. Polarized clip on is the trend nowadays and in great demand currently, since it cuts the glare that comes from the reflection from flat surfaces such as water, other cars windshield and field of snow.
